What is the meaning of "Hamanchem"?

1.

Rashi: You summonsed yourselves l'Hefker Min ha'Goyim 1 . This is like "va'Yiman Lahem ha'Melech" (Daniel 1:5).

2.

Rashi citing Menachem: It is an expression of Homeh (making noise), like "Hamu Goyim" (Tehilim 46:7).

3.

Radak: The root is Haman - you were Hamon. I increased you, and gave to you more good than the nations around you. Due to this, you did not go in My Chukim. This is like "va'Yishman Yeshurun va'Yiv'at? va'Yitosh Eloka Asahu" (Devarim 32:15), "v'Chesef Hirbeisi Lah v'Zahav Asu la'Ba'al" (Hoshe'a 2:10).

4.

Radak citing Targum Yonasan: You are more liable [than the nations around you].

5.

Malbim: You learned from the nations not to go in My ways.

1

Perhaps this means that you were more lawless than the nations. (PF)

2)

Should Yisrael have done like the laws of the nations around them?!

1.

Rashi: They did not switch their gods, and they are not [real] gods. You switched My honor for something that does not help!

2.

Refer to 5:7:3:1.

3.

Malbim: You did not do like one who believes in Yisrael's creed, and did not conduct according to creed based on intellect.

3)

Here it says that Yisrael did not do like the Mishpatim of the surrounding nations. Below (11:12), it says that they did like the nations' Mishpatim!

1.

Rashi citing Sanhedrin 39b: You did not do like their proper laws. You did like their corrupt laws.
