How do they desire "Yom Hashem"?

1.

Rashi: They say, "let Him do His deed quickly" (Yeshayah 5:19)!

2)

Why does it say "Hoy? Lamah Zeh Lachem"? Is it not proper to look forward to Yom Hashem?

1.

Sanhedrin 98b, partially cited in Rashi: A parable explains this. A rooster and a bat were awaiting dawn. The rooster said, I await the light, for I can see. (You cannot see. Why do you wait for the light?!)

2.

Malbim (16, 18): They had a tradition from the Nevi'im that there is a day prepared when Hashem will be revealed in His honor to punish the nations that did evil to Yisrael ? "Yom Hashem ha'Gadol veha'Nora 1 ". Then Yisrael will be saved permanently. "Ha'Shemesh Yehafech lChoshech veha'Yare'ach l'Dam Lifnei Vo Yom Hashem ha'Gadol veha'Nora" (Yo'el 3:4). Yisrael were looking forward to that day ? Hashem will pass among them and bring the Goyim down to Emek Yehoshafat and judge them. The Navi informs them that they err. Yom Hashem that will come to benefit Yisrael will be when Yisrael are complete and Tzadikim, and proper for salvation 2 . Yom Hashem that will come now will be darkness for them, for they are Resha'im.

1

We find this in Yo'el 3:4, and at the end of Mal'achi.

2

I.e. at the end of Mal'achi. Yom Hashem that will come now is what Yo'el discussed. (PF)
