Radak: Their dwelling was prepared there - they built houses and fixed their residence there. This caused them to be lazy and not ascend from Bavel with Ezra. They remained, and did not want to ascend even after they began to build the Bayis. Hunichah is a compound word, from Henichah (Hif'il conjugation) and Hunachah (Pa'al).
