Why does the Torah insert this Pasuk, which is seemingly superfluous)?

1.

Rashi (citing the Sifra): To teach us that the ram of Asham Shifchah Charufah (like the Asham Me'ilos) must be worth two Shekalim (Sela'im). 1

2.

Targum Yonasan: To teach us that whoever is Chayav a Korban Asham is obligated to bring it as an Asham in the Name of Hashem (to atone) for the sin that he performed. 2

3.

Moshav Zekenim (in Pasuk 6): To stress that, even though the Korban comes for a Safek, it is an Asham (a Korban for great guilt - it is an Asham to Hashem, who knows all hidden matters, and assuming he sinned, He would punish him (if he did not offer the Korban to shield him).

2)

What are the implications of the word "Asham Hu"?

1.

Rashi: With reference to 5:19:1:1 - it precludes the Asham Nazir and the Asham Metzora - which do not need to be worth two Shekalim. 1

2.

Seforno: It reassures the sinner, - who may otherwise think that, since he may not have sinned, his Korban is not valied and he brought Chulin into the Azarah - that his Korban is Kasher.

3.

Zevachim 5a: It teaches us that, if the owner of the Asham dies or if it is found after it was lost and the owner brought another ram in its place, one Shechts the Asham as an Olah, it remains an Asham ? unless one first let it roam in a field and obtain a blemish.

1

Refer to 5:19:1:1.

3)

What are the connotations of "Ashom Asham la'Hashem!"

1.

Rashi: ?(It is a guilt-offering) - that he has become Chayav to bring before Hashem?.

2.

R. Bachye: ?Ashom Asham? - with reference to 5:18:154:2 - Because it is describing someone who does not take his sin seriously; ?la?Hashem? ? because only Hashem knows that he sinned. 1

3.

Seforno: It means that he is guilty of carelessness in allowing the Safek to occur, and that his Korban is genuine Asham ? and he need not worry that he is bringing Chulin into tthe Azarah.

4.

Targum Onkelos: It means that the Asham tht he is bringing for his sin he should bring before Hashem.

5.

Targum Yonasan: It means that whatever one brings as an Asham, one should bring in the name of Hashem. 2

1

R. Bachye: Like the Torah writes regarding the Sa?ir Rosh Chodesh - - Bamidbar 25:15 ?le?Chatas la?Hashem?.
