What is the significance of creating the smith and the destroyer?
Rashi: I incited the enemy against you, and I prepared punishments for him.
Radak: Even though people make weapons, and Gog and Magog and [other] Nochrim will come with many weapons, I made them! Since I made the maker, and I can wound the maker, all the more so [I can destroy the weapons], his product! I made the destroyer of them and their weapons - "v'Hikisi Kashtecha mi'Yad Smolecha v'Chitzecha mi'Yad Yemincha Apil" (Yechezkel 39:3).
Malbim: Also the substance from which he makes the sword - iron, which destroys, I created. Also the purpose I created - to wound. The substance, the worker, the means, the form and purpose are all My acts - if I do not want to destroy, surely it will not destroy!
