Rashi: They are what he engaged in his lifetime, such as the game of kings 1 , monkeys, elephants and lions.
Ibn Ezra: They are in addition to the Nefesh leaving worldly desires in order to gather money, e.g. seeking authority, craved matters
Magihah (in Toras Chayim): Chess.
What is the meaning of "Marbim Havel"?
Rav Sadya Gaon: They increase distraction.
Ibn Ezra: They increase man's Hevel. It suffices that he is Hevel!
Metzudas David: They are wondrous things that man did in his lifetime, but they increase Hevel, for they are not eternal.
Why does it say "Mah Yoser la'Adam">
Rav Sadya Gaon: What gain does man have from them? Rid - it is not good to toil for them.
Rashi: Mah Yivaser (will remain) for man (from these many things) after death?
Ibn Ezra: The verse discusses the Oni (8). He should beware of all Hevel, for what more does he have?
Rashbam: What gain is there from many words?
Metzudas David (11-12): What is the advantage of man over other living beings, due to the Da'as that he was given? Most people do not attain it, for few know what man should do in his lifetime.
