Why does it say "due to the flood water"?

1.

Rashi: Noach had little faith. He did not enter the Ark until the Flood began. 1

Moshav Zekenim: This is like Seder Olam. However, a Midrash says that he entered a week earlier, before Mesushelach died.

QUESTIONS ON RASHI

2)

Rashi writes: "They were forbidden in marital relations." What is the source for this in the Pasuk?

1.

Gur Aryeh: The verse could have stated "and Noach and his wife came...," like the verse when they emerged from the Teivah, "Leave the Teivah, you and your wife..." (Bereishis 8:16). 1

1

Gur Aryeh points out that when they actually left the Teivah (8:18), the men and women are again listed separately. Initially, Noach did not wish to return to procreation, until HaSh-m swore that there would not be another Mabul. Refer to 8:18:1.

3)

Rashi writes: "They were forbidden in marital relations, for the world was in distress." Did we not learn this above (Rashi 6:18)? Also, earlier, Rashi did not give a reason for this prohibition.

1.

Gur Aryeh: Refer to 6:18:2.1:1. Our verse teaches that the true reason for the prohibition (6:18) was that the world was in distress, therefore it applied even on the Teivah during the Mabul.
