Is Avi'asaf the same as Evyasaf ben Korach above (6:22)?
Radak: Yes. However, Shalum ben Korei is not mentioned there. Perhaps he was from Bnei Heiman 1 [who descended from Evyasaf - 6:18-22]. For brevity, he is called Ben Avi'asaf.
Heiman was a singer (6:18). Why would his descendant be a gatekeeper? (PF)
What is the meaning of "Shomerei ha'Sipim la'Ohel"?
'Rashi': They stopped people from entering the Ohel Mo'ed (Vilna Gaon - the Heichal), except for Kohanim doing Avodah.
Radak: They guarded the doorposts of Kodesh ha'Kodoshim
Malbim: They stopped people from entering the Ohel Mo'ed [in the days of David, before the Beis ha'Mikdash was built].
What do we learn from "va'Avoseihem Al Machaneh Hashem"?
Redak: They descend from Bnei Kehas, who were appointed over the Aron, Kapores, Paroches, i.e. Machaneh Hashem. They guarded lest people enter. Even about themselves, it says "v'Lo Yavo'u Lir'os k'Vala Es ha'Kodesh va'Mesu"!
