?Ka?asher Merisem Pi be?Midbar Tzin ? ?. Why, whenever the Torah mentions Moshe and Aharon's death, does it always mention why they died?

1.

Rashi #1 (on Pasuk 13): To teach us that, had they sanctified Hashem's Name (by carrying out Hashem's command to the letter), their time to leave this world would not yet have arrived.

2.

Rashi #2 (on Pasuk 13): Because Moshe requested it, 1 in case people think that they did not enter Eretz Yisrael due to a lack of Emunah, like the rest of the generation that left Egypt. 2 The Torah therefore fulfilled his request, to let people know that this was their only sin. 3

1

Yoma, 86b: As opposed to David - Yisrael's second great leader, who requested that his sin not be publicised, as he stated in Tehilim, 32: "Ashrei N'suy Pesha, K'suy Chata'ah".

2

Rashi: It can be compared to two women who received Malkos in Beis-Din, one for Z'nus , and the other for eating unripe figs of Shemitah (See Sifsei Chachamim). The latter requested of Beis-Din to announce her sin, so that people should not accuse her of the more severe sin of Z'nus.

3

Refer to 27:14:1:1*

2)

What are the implications of "Heim Mei Merivas Kadeish"?

1.

Rashi #1: With reference to Moshe and Aharon, it implies that this was their only sin. 1

2.

Rashi #2 (citing Sifri Zuta): With reference to Yisrael, it means that they were the same ones who rebelled at Marah, at the Yam-Suf and in Midbar Tzin. 2

1

Even though Aharon participated in the sin of the Golden Calf, he was cleansed through the death of two of his sons (PF).

2

Refer to 27:14:152:1,2.

3)

Why does the Torah write "Heim" here, whereas above in 20:13 it wrote "Heimah Mei Merivah"?

1.

Refer to 20:13:151:1 and note.

4)

Rashi (citing Sifri Zuta) writes that the same ones rebelled at Marah, at the Yam-Suf and in Midbar Tzin. But whereas the generation that would enter Eretz Cana'an sinned in Midbar Tzin (Mei Merivah), it was the generation that left Egypt that performed the other sins?

1.

Divrei David: The Pasuk means that Yisrael sinned through [complaining about lack of] water also in other places (but not that the same people sinned). The text should red 'Refidim' in place of 'Yam Suf.'

2.

Perhaps this is like the opinion that Mei Merivah is the same as the episode in Refidim (Shemos 17:2,7). (Refer to Bamidbar 14:22:151:3 and the notes there), in which case it was perpetrated by mthe generation that left Egypt (PF).
