What is the Pasuk coming to teach us?

Seforno: Refer to 32:13:1:1**. After the first two attempts failed, Hashem decided to purify them through Galus, denigrating them in His anger - even their young sons 1 and even the dignity of their daughters.

Why does the Torah refer to Yisrael as "Banav u'Venosav"?

Seforno: Refer to 32:19:1:1* & 32:19:1:1* 1 .

Rashbam: To attribute Hashem's anger to the fact that they were His children who were disloyal to Him. 2

Targum Yonasan: Hashem was angry because His beloved children, who were called 'sons and daughters' after His Name, angered Him. 3

Kesuvos, 8b: What the Pasuk means is that when a generation angers Hashem, He becomes angry with their sons and daughters when they are small. 4

Why does the Torah insert the word "Benosav", when normally, daughters are included in 'Banim'?

Ramban: Because in the generation of the Churban, the women were more attached to Avodah Zarah than the men. In fact, it was they who incited the men to join them. 1
